Founded in 1890 as Edgewood, Candler Park homes and businesses cluster around the Park of the same name. The park provides a great place for peaceful strolls or active sports, offering a 9 hole golf course, playground, swimming pool (closed during 2009) tennis courts, basketball court and a soccer field. A nearby bike path extends all the way to Stone Mountain.
Most homes date from the early 1900's represented by the many one-story craftsman bungalows in the neighborhood. The CANDLER PARK HISTORIC DISTRICT was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. You can see homes currently on the market in Candler Park at the bottom of this page.
Candler Park is very pedestrian friendly, offering a number of locally owned restaurants and shops. Entirely in DeKalb County, it is bordered on the east by Clifton Road, on the north by North Avenue and on the south by DeKalb Avenue.
Each year, the Neighborhood Association sponsors the Candler Park Fall Festival with over a hundred vendors, local musicians, food , a road race, children's entertainment and a tour of some of Atlanta's most beautiful homes.
